Phantoms

Phantoms is a cohesive collection of songs by an inventive and exciting musician, Hans Christian. Christian's music for cello, guitar, keyboards and percussion has strong rhythms with a sound that seems to derive from a shadowy depth. These are not dirges, but there is a reverent, sacred mood and occasionally melancholy mood in the songs. The pieces are enjoyable and imaginative and not overly serious. Christian's classical training on bass and cello is unmistakable, but the solid rhythms and jazzy flares set his music apart. Poet Chera VanBury provides vocals on one piece and moving poetry for the liner notes.
