Antonijevo razbijeno ogledalo

overview

One of the first films made by Makavejev, the central figure of the Serbian/Yugoslavian Black Wave cinema.
This is short film in it's best form.
Amazing camera work, innovative storyline. This 1957 film looks much older, probably because the only copy preserved isn't that good at all.
Tag line of the film (which shows up with the rest of the title cards somewhere around the middle of the film) is "A fairy tale of a man who broke his dream".
First five minutes of the film show a weird fellow who is playing marbles with kids and seems to be just biding his time. Film after the titles continues to follow his adventures as his love story unfolds. A love story between him and a doll in a window shop.
Also, what's interesting is the main role which is played by Dragoljub Ivkov, the most versatile person in Serbian cinema. This man has been involved in so many different projects in so many different roles:
Actor, writer, director, art director, producer, editor, costume designer, cinematographer, production designer...
