People in Buenos Aires (1974)

A film about a telephone romance between two people who are under the impression that they are strangers, but who in acutality are acquaintances. The film shows that a relationship can be more profound and intimate when there is a physical distance involved.
In Buenos Aires, a poor student keeps himself in college by working as a salesman to the city's department stores. Between his studies and his work, he has no time for pleasantries, which irks one of the shopgirls he meets, and she begins taunting and teasing him whenever they meet. At the same time, he has been developing a telephone relationship with a young woman, at first very guarded, then more friendly. Finally, they are great pals. To their mutual surprise, the phone pals turn out to be the salesman and the shopgirl.
Dial-a romance between a seller and a student. They think they are strange, but actually know personally, but find they are taking better phone than in person. How a relationship can be more intimate and deeper when the distance is involved. Little reflection on the common association in the city.
