She plays with stuff...
She is very cute and fun to watch, and Nikita's debut shows already what a great sense for camera movement he possesses. Despite the lack of dialogues, the film isn't boring, and has this unique atmosphere that you often meet in Russian films.
Sound and music editing is a bit clumsy, but that might have been on purpose...

In 1944, the front line was shifting to the west, towards the border. The war ended in some places but peaceful life was yet to begin.

Following the Russian Civil War, a loyal Red, Shilov, must prove he is at home among strangers as he attempts to recapture a shipment of gold that he was supposed to deliver to Moscow. Needed as a means of buying food for the people, the gold Shilov was entrusted with is stolen, initially by a group of assassins and then by a group of bandits. In tracking the gold’s whereabouts, Shilov’s motives are questioned and he is suspected of treason, in part because his brother was a devoted White. In an effort to clear his name, Shilov locates the gold, but he also discovers rampant greed and corruption.

The story follows Maria Konovalova who travels from her rural village to visit her daughter Nina in the city. Maria's arrival exposes the stark contrasts between rural and urban lifestyles and reveals deep-seated family tensions. Interestingly, Родня (Rodnya) in Russian sounds very similar to the word Родина (Rodina), which means "Motherland." The film features three generations of women — Maria, her daughter Nina, and her granddaughter Irina — symbolizing three different Russias: one from the past, one modern, and one representing the future.

1943 год, разгар Великой Отечественной войны. Митя (Олег Меньшиков) находит Котова (Никита Михалков) в рядах штрафного батальона стоящего у стен некоей цитадели. Маруся (Виктория Толстоганова) растит ребёнка от Кирика (Владимир Ильин), а все фотографии, хоть как-то связанные с Котовым и Надей, убраны по комодам. Таким образом, своим приездом Котов нарушает покой домочадцев, и на следующий день вся семья решает уехать тайком. Комдив застает их на вокзале, но решает отпустить. Позже Сталин приказывает Котову провести сложнейшую операцию: повести в лобовую атаку тысячи неподготовленных людей для того, чтобы оборонявшиеся истратили боезапас, это дало бы возможность провести штурм цитадели с малыми потерями среди солдат. Прибывшим в окопы цитадели раздают черенки от лопат. Первым в атаку идёт Котов.

During the Russian Civil War, the production of a silent melodrama runs into numerous complications.

In visiting his ex-wife’s apartment a man learns that she plans to remarry a scientist named Valentin Shlyakhov. In his past, the man wrote a scathing letter about Shlyakhov which greatly impacted his career. Fearing that this information will come to light when his ex-wife marries Shlyakhov, the man insists that the wedding be called off. What follows is an intimate portrayal of the relationship between a man and a woman (who are never named), whose history as husband and wife plays out during a heated conversation.

A farmer and his wife live in a rural part of Inner Mongolia with their three children. Chinese population control policies prevent them from having any more. The farmer sets out for the nearest town to obtain birth control. He comes upon a Russian truck driver who has ended up in a lake. The farmer takes the man back to his farm, and after initially being appalled, the Russian becomes enchanted with the peaceful life of the countryside and decides to stay. But his presence presages big changes for the peasants.
