あらすじ
明治37年、ロシアの極東侵略政策に脅威を感じた日本は、日露交渉によって事態を収めようとしたが、ロシア側の誠意のない態度に国内は、自衛のためロシアを討つべしとの声が高まり、それまで開戦の国民生活に与える影響を考え慎重だった明治天皇もついに開戦のご英断を下された。かくて連合艦隊に護送されたわが陸軍は仁川に上陸を敢行し、一路満洲へと進撃を開始した。一方海軍は、旅順港にある敵艦隊を封鎖し日本海の制海権を握らんとして決死隊を編成、第一次、第二次と相次ぐ閉塞決行に遂に成功したが広瀬少佐、杉野兵曹長はじめ多くの勇士が壮烈な戦死をとげた…。

予科練の生活と倶楽部の民間人との交流を描く。戦意高揚映画ではあるが、人物描写等は評価されている。挿入歌『若鷲の歌』は大ヒットを記録した。

This resolution recurs in several of Hiroshi Shimizu's silent films, of which Eternal Heart (Fuei no Shiratama, 1929) was shown at Pordenone. This film examines different aspects of modernity through the personalities of two sisters. The elder is in love with Mr Narita, but he marries the younger, only to find that she neglects him and spends her time attending parties and drinking. Thus summarised, one might read the film as essentially conservative - an indictment of a "modern" woman who fails in her wifely duties. But the older sister also personifies an aspect of modernity, since she works as a typist in a Tokyo office. Courted by her boss, she is introduced to his children, who speak scathingly of her profession, and criticise the morality of working women. Here, Shimizu's sympathies are clearly with the modern, professional woman against the spoilt and judgemental upper class. The film's intelligence, in fact, lies in its ambivalent attitude to the modern - an ambivalence that one can trace through Shimizu's later and finer silent films. Unfortunately, the narrative resolution is unsatisfactory; the hero's departure from Japan and the heroine's marriage to her boss fail to answer the problems that the film has posed. The final escape seems a contrivance, though it may be that this failing is to be blamed on Kikuchi Kan, author of the original novel, rather than Shimizu.

A sad and troubled man finds a new job five years after the end of WWII, where he writes love letters for other people.

《我落第了，但...》讲高桥和三个死党没法毕业，却因祸得福继续在校园快乐打滚；高桥另外的三个宿友毕业却变失业，百无聊赖在家打发闷日子。小津曾是问题学生，上电影院也不考入学试，影片无疑是他青春的写照。一勤一懒的两帮学生身上，有笑刺肚皮的夏劳哀式喜剧语言。难忘是笠智众初见担演重要角色，看他在小津影片中渐渐吃重，是另一重乐趣。

Tetsuo Nomoto, a young graduated student tries to find a decent job by himself. Later on, he will marry his girlfriend, Machiko, whom he hides the fact that he has no job. Hardships come quickly, which forces Machiko to find a job in a bar.

The Kinema Junpo critics were, of course, mistaken to think that Naruse had abandoned his emphasis on women. His next film, Sincerity, features two strong female characters, played by Irie Takako and Murase Sachiko, each of whom have a daughter. The girls are schoolmates, but one (Nobuko) is from a middle-class home and the other (Tomiko) is from a poor family. Tomiko's mother Tsutako (Irie) is a single mother who works from home as a seamstress, while Nobuko's mother lives in an elegant home with her husband, Kei. Eventually, it is revealed that Kei had a romantic relationship with Tsutako, and may be Tomiko's father as well, but he is conscripted shortly after this revelation and goes off to war.
This is very much a home front film, in which the women are involved in supporting activities, and the whole town cheers on the new recruits. As Kei is a banker, he is conscripted as an officer. He is introduced brandishing a magnificent sword, indicating his readiness for his call-up, for which everyone congratulates him when it comes. The wartime context is little more than a backdrop to the story of paternity and former love. The complex emotions among the women are conveyed through cutting on eye movements and eye lines, and through the use of the pastoral location.

”ナイフの謙”と呼ばれるヤクザな若者は、ある日タイピストのやす江に一目惚れしてしまう。ふとしたことからやす江の妹、みつ子と知り合った謙は、３人でピクニックに出かける。ヤクザと知らず謙に心惹かれいくやす江だが・・・。
