在 《异形：契约》票房惨败之后，续集计划尚不明朗。但日前有消息称 《异形：契约》的联合编剧约翰·洛根已经完成了续集 《异形：觉醒》的剧本，目前该项目正在等待拍摄，故事大纲也首次被曝光。
《觉醒》的故事将接续《契约》，迈克尔·法斯宾德饰演的仿生人大卫引发了Paradise星球的大屠杀，工程师惨遭灭绝，一批幸免于难的工程师将对大卫展开复仇计划。这场复仇的主舞台可能是星球LV-426，这里是雷德利·斯科特执导的首部《异形》电影中雷普利（西格妮·韦弗 饰）第一次遇到异形的地方。也就是说法斯宾德饰演的角色将被带回最初的《异形》三部曲电影的世界当中。
但事实上，《异形：觉醒》被拍成电影的可能性微乎其微。早在去年年底就传出福斯已经叫停续集的拍摄计划。2017年暑期档上映的《契约》制作预算接近1亿美元，然而最终只收获的7400万美元票房。虽然该片的全球总票房达到了2.4亿美元，但足见观众对于这一系列电影的缺失。
雷德利·斯科特目前正在忙于电影《角斗士2》和《不列颠之战》（Battle of Britain）等多部作品。能否回归执导续集也是个未知数。
