眾人正在為小孩們試音，希望揀選合適的人選。("Audition")編劇伯特和瑪姬來到，美麗而有潛質的柏姬因遲到不能試音，垂涎她美色的比利幫助她成了事。("Young and Heathy")導演朱利安出場，還有此劇紅星多樂芙及其靠山艾伯納。艾伯納認為朱利安要多樂芙試唱一曲是懷疑她實力，威脅要放棄投資，伯特和瑪姬安撫了他。("Shadow Waltz")柏姬和其他女孩們出街，眾人驚異她的幼稚，並多方面給她意見。("Go Into Your Dance")艾伯納因多樂芙得和人接吻而取消了這一節 - 改為握手算了。("You're Getting to Be a Habit with Me")
