After many years, a retired diplomat returns to his native Sicily to visit an abandoned property and delve into family correspondence. But is it worth bringing up the past? A difficult Sicilian history against the backdrop of the mafia and drugs.

January 1649: Since the death of his father, the young Louis XIV must undergo the hard apprenticeship of royal power. He must face the intrigues of the great ones of the kingdom who lead La Fronde, the agreements and the betrayals of those close to him. He is helped in this by his mother Anne of Austria and by the Cardinal Mazarin.

Writer, poet, playwright, journalist, soldier and patriot, Gabriele D’Annunzio was the man Mussolini was inspired by in the process of building the Italian Fascist Movement. Our story starts when the poet is however ending up his life in exile, determined to fight against the fascist oppression and to not give up his freedom of thought. Even though D’Annunzio accepts honors and appointments from Mussolini, the Duce fears him and sends a young Italian federal to watch over the ‘evil poet’. Yet the poet, even if old and tired, hasn't lost his seductive skills. Will they charm the young soldier to the point of making him question himself and its faith to Fascism?

"The subject of this film is the conversation between a man and a woman. A couple, maybe lovers, maybe married, it doesn't matter. (...) During this conversation, we do not see but the city of Rome. I wanted to transmit that what Rome provokes in me, the feeling of an intrinsic matter, indissoluble, in difference with Paris, made of small parks and open spaces, crossed by the sky and the wind. Hand in hand with the film, the difficulty of the two lovers assumes a clearer, more explicit form. But as much as, in my opinion, it is impossible to describe and film Rome, the difficulty in the love of a couple can never be totally understood."

If you are familiar with Brocani's movies "Necropolis" and "Clodia fragmenta", then you know what to expect from this. No conventional plot but instead a juxtaposition of different situations and characters.
