Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy are four loving March sisters living with their mother in the USA during the Civil War. Their father is a military doctor fighting in the Union Army. Over the ruins of their house the March family also learn that the factory in which their father invested all his money has been burnt too. Homeless and pennyless, the family heads towards Newcord, where the father's aunt lives, hoping for the old lady to help them. The girls try to adjust to their new life, face many hardships, meet new friends and wish to the war to be over at last.

ひろみの心情をメインに描いていたこれまでのシリーズとはやや趣を変え、周囲の人物の内面にもスポットを当てた内容となっている。アニメオリジナルな展開も多く、15年以上も本作に携わってきた出崎統監督のカラーがより濃い一作だ。

Miki loses her mysterious bell-shaped object, that her school friend picks up. As they return home by bus, inexplicably the brakes fail, the bus rolls into a long dark tunnel, transporting the two girls into another world. As Miki awakens, she sees wolf-faced warriors abduct her friend — apparently to kidnap the girl with the bell, but taking the wrong girl. Miki tries to follow the strange monsters, to save her friend, but fails — trapped in a world of monsters and madmen, who plot the downfall of Earth.

The only power that can possibly save her (and the world) is that of the mysterious Mask of Zeguy. Miki must embark on a life-threatening quest for this talisman, with the villains in hot pursuit!

旧作終了から18年後の1986年に「ロボタン」がカラー作品としてリメイクされました。キー局はよみうりテレビ、15分×２話で全66話、３クールほどの変則放映でした。再び森田拳次が企画に協力し画の雰囲気も前作と近いものになっています。色が着いているかいないかだけで僕には余り違和感がなかったです。ただストーリーの方は20年近い時代の流れがありますから、かなり違っています。

女子プロレスもののOVA。「メガゾーン23」シリーズなどを手がけてきたAICとアートミックの作品だけあって若干のSF的趣向も加味されている。
森田ミキと風間エリはリングネーム「ウォナビーズ」として知られる女子プロレス界のアイドル的存在。二人とも整った顔立ちと端整なプロポーションがアピールポイントだ。ライバル格の「フォクシーレディース」のコンビから目のカタキにされているウォナビーズの二人だが、ミキとエリの強さにはある秘密が隠されていた。実は、二人には人工的な超人＝ハイパワード人間を生み出すためのエキスが投与されていたのだ。もちろんそんなこととは知らないミキとエリだったが。
本作のキャラクターデザインはアートミックの看板作家でもある園田健一が担当。客演の声優にデーモン小暮と古館伊知郎が本人の役どころで出演している。
