幕后制作
《迷魂药》（Ecstasy）改编自埃尔文·威尔什（Irvine Welsh）的短篇小说《不败之身》（The Undefeated），后者也是90年代关于毒品的经典影片《猜火车》的小说原作者和编剧。《迷魂药》由加拿大演罗博·海顿（Rob Heydon）执导，他曾经执导过100多部广告和MV以及纪录片《走的更远》，但本片是他的剧情长片处女秀。
《不败之身》来自于威尔什1996年发表的短片集《Ecstasy》，全名是《Ecstasy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance 》（狂迷：关于化学罗曼史的三个故事），这里的“化学罗曼史”显然指的是毒品。《不败之身》是其中最长的一片故事，讲述了一名瘾君子与一名家庭主妇在夜店里相遇而发生的故事。这本书发表后不久就被加拿大剧作家Keith Wyatt改变成舞台剧，在加拿大和爱丁堡等地演出获得了巨大的成功。埃尔文·威尔什本人也观看了舞台剧的版本，表示这是对他的作品“最优秀的改编”。早在2000年，加拿大导演罗博·海顿就买下了短篇小说的电影改编版权，计划把它搬上银幕，但为了筹集资金以及让剧本得到威尔什本人的认可，他最终花了10年时间直到2011年才把电影拍成。
