So he decides to puzzle out the unsolved cases on his free time, helped by his coworker Mikazuki, who seems to have a crush on him.

Koichi and Atsumi are lovers who have known each other all their lives. A year ago, however, a suicide attempt by Atsumi left her in a coma. Through 'sensing', a type of neurosurgical procedure allowing contact with the intentional aspect of a comatose patient's mind, Koishi tries to find out why Atsumi tried to kill herself, and to bring her back to consciousness. He enters her subconscious, and is told to find a picture of a plesiosaur she drew when she was a child. It turns out that a childhood incident buried in their past will bring their minds together.

This story begins with a protagonist whose sense of time has halted due to the grief of losing his son, now abandoned by his wife, and his sudden cohabitation with his 17-year-old niece left behind by his sister. A man who has lost love, a woman who has renounced love, and a girl who knows nothing of love... 2001年1月20日、放送終了記念イベントにて上映された短編。テレビシリーズを担当した監督たちの演出上の特徴を次々と再現したり、「ズ・ザイン・ダの人間体にライジングマイティキックを放つ桜子」というシーン（村田和美が野上彰のファンであることから実現した楽屋オチ）が飛び出すなど、メタフィクションな要素が盛り込まれた番外編である。出演者は全員友情出演で、すべての役名に「友情」の文字が加えられ、さらにスタッフまで友情参加扱いになっている。撮影はデジタルカメラで行われ、「デジカメ撮影」のテロップ（テレビシリーズ放送時に挿入されていた「ハイビジョン撮影」のテロップのパロディ）が挿入されている。

主人公・大桑北郎（おおくわきたろう）が、多額の借金を返済するため全国各地でアルバイトをして回り、さまざまなトラブルに巻き込まれながらも家族と向き合っていくさまが描かれる。
