Opera in 3 acts and 10 scenes, without intermission
Act 1
Prologue
St Petersburg. Kovalyov, a Collegiate Assessor is being shaved by Ivan Yakovlevich (a barber). He is one of Yakovlevich's regular customers.
The next morning, Yakovlevich finds a nose in his bread. His wife, believing he has cut off one of his customers' noses, requests him to dispose of it. He tries to dispose of it in the street, but is foiled by running into people he knows, then he throws it into the Neva River, but he is seen by a police officer and taken away for questioning. Meanwhile, Kovalyov wakes and finds his nose missing. His first reaction is disbelief, then shock, and he sets out to find it. He later sees his nose praying in the Kazan Cathedral, now the size of a human being. Since the nose has acquired a higher rank (State Councillor) than he, it refuses to have any dealings with him, and leaves.
Act 2
In his search, Kovalyov finds himself at the Chief of Police's apartment, but he is not at home. Next he visits the newspaper office to place an advertisement about the loss of his nose, where they are dealing with a missing dog. After explaining his loss, his request is refused on the grounds of the newspaper's reputation. Upon demonstrating his loss, the clerk suggests he tell his story. Kovalyov feels insulted and leaves.
He returns to his apartment, where his servant is playing the balalaika, he dismisses him and wallows in self-pity.
Act 3
The police take up the search. A group of policemen are at a railway station, in order to prevent the nose from escaping, where an inspector rallies them. The nose runs in and tries to stop the train, and a general pursuit ensues, resulting in its capture. The nose is then beaten into its normal size, wrapped and returned to Kovalyov by the inspector, but Kovalyov is unable to reattach it. Nor can a doctor. He then suspects that he has been placed under a spell by a woman called Madame Podtochina, because he would not marry her daughter. He writes to ask her to undo the spell, but she misinterprets the letter as a proposal to her daughter. She convinces him that she is innocent. In the city, crowds fuelled by rumours gather in search of the nose till the police restore order.
Epilogue
Kovalyov wakes up with his nose reattached, and dances a polka in joy. Yakovlevich has been released from prison and arrives to shave him. Afterwards Kovalyov wanders along Nevsky Prospekt greeting acquaintances, while people discuss the story.

Kafka [Performance] Douban
genre: theater playwright: Valeriy Pecheykin
Franz Kafka was humble and avoidant clerk, literature was his secret passion. By his own admission he considered Flober, Dostoevsky, and Gogol as his “blood brothers”, however, he bequeathed his manuscripts to be burned after his death. Against writer’s will his friends published his works, which were filled with peculiar visions and paradoxical plot lines, postmortem. These publications brought Kafka worldwide fame. Nowadays, he is perceived as ingenious prophet of XX th century’s insanity, while writer’s name has become a synonym of a specific type of absurd. Kafka’s life was filled with overwhelming desire of art, his texts contain vast energy. For authors of the play it did matter to show writer’s personality to the full extent of its real sophistication.
The production by Kirill Serebrennikov, based on the play by Valery Pecheikin, is a combination of biographical facts from life of the writer and plot lines created by his imagination. Kafka’s bestiary characters live among real people. According to the idea of playwright Valery Pecheikin on stage there are characters from Kafka’s “internal biography”: starting from the flying dogs and Gregor Samsa, reaching up to peculiar Odradek and people, who came in dreams. Three facts from Kafka’s life:
1 Max Brod
Kafka hired him as an executor, who had to destroy all of the unpublished works such as “The Trial” and “The Castle” which was not finished. Nevertheless, Max have broken the will of his friend. That is how the worldwide glory started.
2 Family was a place of constant conflicts for Franz, especially with his father. Kafka had even sent him his famous letter, which now is published as stand-alone work.
3 Maybe conflicts and confrontations in his family prevented Kafka from creating his own one.
There is a correspondence with Felice Bauer, bride of Franz, who actually did not become his wife. Valery Pecheikin, playwright:
“The most complicated it was to find and reproduce the absurd which I not to be confused with nonsense. Kafka’s absurd has its own internal logic and one of my goals was to find this logic. It seems as even today we live in the world where the absurd is still a standard measure of everything. Remains only to repeat writer’s words: “I would like to lead the word to purity, truth, perpetuity.” The premiere occurred on 29 June 2016.
Woyzeck [Performance] Douban
Woyzeck
genre: theater playwright: Georg Büchner
other title: 沃伊采克 director: Manfred Beilharz / Gísli Örn Garðarsson actor: Ingvar Eggert Sigurðsson / Nína Dögg Filippusdóttir
Franz Woyzeck, a lonely soldier stationed in a provincial German town, is living with Marie, the mother of his child who is not blessed by the church as the child was born out of wedlock. Woyzeck earns extra money for his family by performing menial jobs for the Captain and agreeing to take part in medical experiments conducted by the Doctor. At one of these experiments, the Doctor tells Woyzeck that he must eat nothing but peas. Woyzeck's mental health is breaking down and he begins to experience a series of apocalyptic visions. Meanwhile, Marie grows tired of Woyzeck and turns her attentions to a handsome drum major who, in an ambiguous scene taking place in Marie's bedroom, sleeps with her.
With his jealous suspicions growing, Woyzeck confronts the drum major, who beats Woyzeck up and humiliates him. Finally, Woyzeck stabs Marie to death by a pond. While a third act trial is claimed by some, notably A. H. J. Knight and Fritz Bergemann, to have been part of the original conception (what may be the beginning of a courtroom scene survives), the fragment, as left by Büchner, ends with Woyzeck disposing of the knife in the pond while trying to clean himself of the blood.
Here Franzos inserted the stage direction "ertrinkt" (he drowns), and although this emendation according to Knight "almost amounts to a forgery", most versions employ drowning as an appropriate resolution to the story.
Terrorism [Performance] Douban
genre: theater playwright: Presnyakov Brothers

One of the playes by Brothers Presnyakovs, wich hit at the most painful point of nowdays, is about how does the terrorism born. From what depths of human subconsciousness? Or it is born in a habitual rhythm of an everyday life?
Kirill Serebrennikov's perfomance is about what normal, good people, like we all are, do with each other.
People laught and cry on this perfomance. After it they return to the normal life changed. It is allways like that, if to talk about art.
This play is a winner of the Competition of the modern Russian dramatic art, organized by the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation and Moscow Art Theatre.

The Philistines / The Smug Citizens / The Petty Bourgeoises [Performance] Douban
Dead Souls [Performance] Douban
genre: theater playwright: 果戈理 / Vladimir Ivanov
other title: 死魂灵 / Мёртвые души director: Roman Kocherzhevsky / Vladimir Ivanov actor: Maria Aronova / Vladislav Gandrabura

The Forrest [Performance] Douban
The Forrest
genre: theater playwright: Ostrovsky / Alexander Ostrovsky
other title: 森林 director: Michal Dočekal / Kirill Serebrennikov

Ostrovsky’s black comedy has not lost any of its topicality. The story’s focal point is a dispute over a forest. Whereas for the wealthy landowner Raisa Gurmyzhska the forest is merely a chance to extend her property and win a young lover, it is just business as usual for her unscrupulous neighbour, the merchant Vosmibratov. The play’s other, no less significant, plot line is formed by the characters of the itinerant actors Gennady and Arkady, idealists who have little chance of succeeding at a time when a technocratic approach to life and values holds sway. Caginess, intrigues and changing conventions are the themes dominating Ostrovsky’s play.

The Man With No Name [Performance] Douban
genre: theater playwright: Vladimir Odoyevsky

Very soon though, all his ideals are trampled, and he repeats the fate of his practical and dispassionate Uncle Peter. What this story would have turned into in the XXI century? The Black Monk / The Чёрный Mönch / Le Moine Noir [Performance] Douban
genre: theater playwright: 契诃夫
other title: 黑修士 / Чёрный монах director: Kirill Serebrennikov
Andrey Kovrin, overworked intellectual who dreams of liberty and glory, decides to retire to the country house of his old friend Pesotsky and his daughter Tanya to get some rest. As he sits in the garden, he sees the ghost of a monk, who will haunt his stay and eventually drive him mad. Adapting this short story, Kirill Serebrennikov remembers that Anton Chekhov depicts characters lost in the “infernal circle” of peculiar truths. Nothing less could shrink their field of vision so. The director also remembers that the story is made up of many personal stories that clash and weave together into a complex ensemble: that of a truth no one can hold alone. A challenge to which the dissident artist responds by showing the same story from the point of view of each of the protagonists, and by multiplying perspectives and vanishing points. Meanwhile Hecate, the goddess of evil moons which haunt the stage, watches over all…
