Tito's break-up with Stalin in 1948 marked the beginning of not only confusing, but also very dangerous years for many hard-core Yugoslav communists. A careless remark about the newspaper cartoon is enough for Mesha to join many arrested unfortunates. His family is now forced to cope with the situation and wait for his release from prison.

An alcoholic Bosnian poet sends his wife and daughter away from Sarajevo so they can avoid the troubles there. However, he is soon descended upon by a pair of orphaned brothers. The brothers have escaped a massacre in their own village and have come to the Bosnian capital in search of a long lost Aunt. The poet befriends the boys and together they try to survive the horror of the siege of Sarajevo.

After the end of WW2 a blonde boy arrives at an orphanage made for the children of Partizans or people being killed in the war. The headmaster knows that the boy's parents were Nazis but conceals that fact from others, fearing violence by vengeful children. He invents the boy's life story, but the other children get suspicious.

A self-taught naive painter attracts the attention of a local married woman. Their liaison upsets the balance of their community and puts them into conflict with their neighbours. A beautifully shot film with great feeling for painting and the surrounding landscape.
This pastoral drama celebrates the dedication and courage of a man wholly given over to painting and art. In the story, a forestry worker (Stole Arandelovic) is transferred to a small village in Bosnia, and is seen to be constantly busy with some form of artwork. He even asks for women to model nude for him. This odd activity at first leads the suspicious villagers to attempt to torment him by desecrating his canvases, but he endures this period, marries a local woman, and dies prematurely. In an uncanny fashion, the director Ivica Matic's life mirrors this, his only film, in that he died unexpectedly in his late twenties, only a few days after the last scene was shot in 1976. It was compiled and edited for release by a group of his friends in the late 1980s.

In a Serbian village on Christmas Day in 1943, the Chetniks accept two downed American pilots and give them hospitality. However, finding out that the Germans are looking for the pilots, the Chetniks change their attitude towards them.
