He was drawing attention." - So begins the short story "The Witcher" by Andrzej Sapkowski, which gave rise to a seven-volume series.

本片原名《Wiedzmin》，又名《hexer》，就是大名鼎鼎的《巫师》或《猎魔人》，该电视剧是2001年和2002年由幻象剧场制作拍摄，共13集，改编自波兰作家安德烈·斯帕克沃斯基的奇幻小说《猎魔人》，该作品是波兰国宝级小说，在波兰国内与《指环王》、《权利的游戏》等著作齐名，小说在2007年被改编成游戏《巫师》
本片是小说第一次影视化，在电视剧拍摄完成后，制作方先将剧集剪辑成一部长约130分钟的电影，这部电影被中国电视台引进国内，译名为《屠龙传奇》
剧集分两个阶段，第一部分讲述了主人公杰洛特如何从一名少年成长为猎魔人的故事，并在斩妖除魔过程中结识术士叶奈法和游吟诗人
第二部分讲述了杰洛特与女儿希里的命运纠葛，经过重重磨难最终相聚的故事
剧集对原著改编较多，因此受到原作者的抵制
