亚伟（苗侨伟）及妹妹自小被母亲告诫：不得去南洋！两人虽不知因由，却也老实听命。母亲外出期间，妹妹欲与朋友结伴去南洋旅行，亚伟经不住她的几番央求，准她违抗母命，但叮咛一定要戴祖传灵牌，不想她在南洋时嫌灵牌太丑丢于行李箱，结果被蜈蚣群袭，死相惨不忍睹。
亚伟赶到南洋为妹妹办理丧事，大学同学亚芝（李殿朗）相陪，过程中他被高人相告已被降王盯上，小心行事之时向母亲追问南洋是一家人禁地的原因。原来亚伟爷爷年轻时曾在南洋犯错，降王誓要报仇，是谓“祖先作孽、后人受灾”。亚伟无恙是因时刻将祖传灵牌戴于脖间。降王屡攻不下，决定下降亚芝。

旅行团意外流落荒岛，领队在一废村里发现巨大钻石，一时贪心将其取走，却误将鬼王释放。鬼王法力未恢复，岛上众人尚能幸存，还互相发生争执，可鬼王法力渐渐恢复，众人陷入危机之中，才意识到要消灭鬼王只有同心协力……
