Every New Year's Eve we all hope to get something special. Even the Grim Reaper wants to receive a gift from Santa. But the New Year is full of surprises, and sometimes presents can be quite unexpected.

一个肥胖的长途卡车司机，独自驾驶着汽车奔驰在被黑暗笼罩的高速公路上。此时他困意十足，疲劳地进行着这段可怕的旅程，全然没有注意到副驾驶位置坐着那个身穿黑色斗篷、手拿镰刀的死神。死神紧张地注视着手里的沙漏，那是关系这男人命运的时间计。眼看沙子就要漏光，严重的车祸如期而至。稍后，胖男人被送入了急救室，他还有微弱的气息，无法遽然前往另一个世界。死神为了带走胖司机，趁主治大夫走神的工夫悄悄溜进急救室，他希望通过一些小伎俩再推胖司机一把，让他尽快前往死亡的国度。
看起来死神的计谋得逞了，然而意外突然发生……
