瀬川敏夫は朝、いつものように海辺にある家を出て、仕事場に向かった。彼は岡山県前島の火葬場の職員である。中学を卒業すると父親からすぐこの仕事を受け継ぎ、一生の仕事にしたいと考えていた。毎日、仕事場に出ると、まず丹念にかまの掃除・点検をする。そして、裸になって全身を塩で清め、仏様が来るのを待つのだ。敏夫には恋人がいた。小野正子といい、老人専門病院で働く明るい性格を持った女性だ。彼は結婚も考えていたが、自分の仕事を正子に十分理解してもらえるかどうか自信がなく、なかなか切り出せないでいた。ある日、敏夫は道で倒れた女性を助け家まで送った。彼女は広井ぬいと言い、山奥の家にひっそりと息子と暮らしている。正子が二日間休暇をとって島にやって来た。敏夫は自分の夢を彼女に語った。夜、二人は海で戯れるぬい親子を見かける。翌朝、ぬいが敏夫の家を訪れた。息子が死んだというのだった。休暇を終えて正子が帰って行った。ある日、ぬいが睡眠薬を飲みすぎて倒れた。駆けつけた敏夫に、ぬいは息子が急に精神病を発病したこと、そのため、母子相姦となり二人で家を出たことなどを告げた。やがて、敏夫はぬいの膝を枕にしたあと、果てしない海へ歩き進んでいく。

An ambitious young woman uses her sex appeal to solve financial problems in her family, including a brother in debt to the yakuza, and a father who stole money from his firm to repay his son's debt.

三流どこの補習学校教師野呂は、税務署吏員金森風吉の家に間借りしている。独身者だ。久かたぶりに銀座へ出て目をまわし、トラックに轢かれそこなった。当分右腕が利かず、学生泡田に代って黒板に字をかいてもらうが、かき賃一時間百円也を請求され、びっくりする。学校経営者の土建屋から夜間担任に格下げされ、無体な時間外勤務を強いられても文句ひとついえぬ野呂が、心ひそかに想うのは金森の娘－－銀行事務員のカン子であった。カン子は無類のガンコ娘で、同僚とはりあい恋人とはりあい、張りのない野呂なんか念頭にもない。野呂と金森は散歩中、戦記物で売りだし今は時めく代議士の五津元大佐に会釈された、というので大感激、警官の甲賀をまじえ外食券食堂で五津礼讃の一くさりをはじめる。途中から一枚加わった学生泡田と甲賀が、話のはしばしに互いの身分を知り、掴みあいとなる。つられて食堂中が大格闘、野呂は丼をもってにげだした。この顛末にもこりず、野呂は学生ちの誘いにのってメーデーに参加宮城前の紛糾にまきこまれて拘置される。同じ署内に選挙違反で検挙された五津もいたが、前後して裟婆に出てからは、五津は「牢獄記」出版でまたまた大ヒット、野呂は学校もクビ、しごと探しに必死である。漸く金森の妻らんの世話でミシン会社荷造り係の口がみつかり、今や入社詮衡へでかけよう、というまぎわ、カン子自殺未遂の報がくる。恋人との結婚を反対されてカンシャクをおこしたのである。が、無我夢中の野呂は「人でなし！」と呼ばうらんの声を背に、とっととわき目もふらず詮衡場へかけつけた。

This, the first Enoken film, was made in 1934. Production was proposed to Pierre Brillante (PB), Enoken's theatrical troupe based at the Shochikuza Theater in Asakusa, by Iwao Mori, a producer at P.C.L. (Photo Science Laboratory), a new film company that had just been established in 1932. P.C.L. was known for its modern style, as exemplified by its first film, “Hoyoyohi Jinsei” (1933). For Enoken, who was strongly influenced by Hollywood musicals and Broadway reviews, the prospect of making a P.C.L. film that would be released in a Western-style theater was a no-brainer. Therefore, he chose Kajiro Yamamoto, who had been active at Nikkatsu Kyoto, to direct the film. The reason for this was “because he understands musical scores.
Enoken and Yamamoto's goal seems to have been to make a Hollywood style musical. In particular, they took their inspiration from the Eddie Cantor comedies that were released in rapid succession between 1931 and 1933. Cantor, who moves chokomaka with his small body, is characterized, like Enoken, by his large, circling eyeballs. The opening song, Printemps, sung by Sadakazu Futamura, Kanta Kisaragi and Enoken with the female students in the open air, is Yes, Yes, My Baby Said Yes, Yes (composed by Con Conrad), a song from Cantor's Whoopee! (1931). It is also performed in the middle of Romantic and Crazy in a scene where Enomoto is teased by Rirako and other female students, but visually, a similar situation can be seen in the Yes. Yes! number in Whoopee. Boku wa yuutsu da sung while studying for exams is also originally My Baby Just Cares For Me also from Cantor's Whoope!.

Shot mostly in Tokyo, this comedy depicts two Chinese tourists who have travelled from their country to Japan in order to experience the latter country.

The Americans are swiftly closing on Okinawa, an island just south of the Japanese mainland. The Imperial command sends top generals and several army divisions to defend it at all costs. The mission quickly degenerates as vital resources and troops are diverted to other islands. After a civilian evacuation ends in tragedy most of non-combatants are forced to remain on the island. Many convert to soldier status. Tokyo sends mixed messages that squander time and resources, as when they order the defenders to build an airstrip for aircraft that never come. The truth soon becomes obvious: the high command decides that the island cannot be held and effectively abandons the Okinawan defenders. When the Americans land many troops are deployed in the wrong places. As the slaughter mounts, a suicidal attitude takes hold. Okinawa becomes a death trap, for civilian volunteers and non-combatants as well.

After incurring the wrath of the mob, a comic flees Detroit for Chicago taking the name "Mickey One" from a stolen Social Security card from a homeless bum he witnesses being beaten up and robbed. As he returns to the stage and becomes successful, he fears that the mob will track him down. He wishes to square himself with the mob, but doesn't know what he did to anger them or what his debt is.

Edmund Rostand's play Cyrano de Bergerac, transplanted to Japan. A poet-warrior with an oversized nose (matched only by his great heart) loves a lady. But she sees him only as a friend, so he helps another man to woo her by giving him the poetry of his own heart.

Final part of epic drama about war and its effects upon human beings, follows the fortunes of the Godai family through the Sino-Japanese War through the Soviet Union's sudden attack upon Japanese troops at the end of the war.

元禄時代の京都。南座の役者・坂田藤十郎は、芸に悩んだ末、友であり師である近松門左衛門に脚本を依頼する。しかし、あがってきた新作狂言『大経師昔暦』をみて、その写実的な濡れ場に困惑する藤十郎。役づくりの目処がたたない彼は、ある女に偽りの恋をしかける。林長二郎改め長谷川一夫の東宝移籍第一回作品。
