Former festival director Kim Dong-ho always mentioned that he wanted to make a film when he left his chair. After he stepped down from his festival director position that he was dedicated to for fifteen years, he started to make his first short Jury. In Ongoing Smile his long time friend Mohsen Makhmalbaf followed his trail as he goes down the road to his directorial debut. Often called endearing, there are three well-known things about Kim Dong-ho; the enormous amount of booze he can drink; his regular life routine and ongoing smile on his face. At five o’clock every morning, he gets up from the bed and starts a day with newspapers. He exercises, works, meets old friends, and makes a film. He started his career as a government official and had a busy life as he transformed from a festival director to a film director, but his life never really changes. Makhmalbaf, with friendly gaze, brings Mr. Kim’s past and present into his daily life and ongoing smiles. (CHO Young-jung)

Filmmaker Hermann Vaske explores the creative Balkan world in the hopes of understanding the meaning of "Balkan spirit", by interviewing philosopher Slavoj Žižek and various artists. However, the term's complexity very quickly becomes apparent and it seems increasingly difficult, if not impossible, to define the Balkans' geographical location, its people and its culture. Indeed, contradiction, chaos and change is at the Balkans very core.

A woman goes to France in search for a man who she lost contact with, only to find that he has moved on to Venice. On her way to Venice, she faces a horrible incident in the train which makes her painfully question herself about life and relationships. And when she makes a frightening conclusion, the question becomes the share of the audiences.

Made for the Venice Film Festival's 70th anniversary, seventy filmmakers made a short film between 60 and 90 seconds long on their interpretation of the future of cinema.

由于女演员在片场发生了危机性命的意外，亦由于一直教导的学生投靠了他人的麾下，导演金基德长久以来对于电影的执念发生了动摇，年逾五十的他发现原本高产的自己竟然再也没有了拍电影的热情与冲动。于是，失意的导演选择过起了离群索居的生活，在物质条件极为简陋的高山之上开始了自我质疑和质问的心灵旅程，他用摄像机拍下了这一段困顿生活中的自问自答，经过剪辑，于是有了这部电影。
拍电影究竟是为了什么？将那些饱受争议的画面和意向放置在电影里又有着怎样的意义？即使是金基德，也给不出标准的答案。唯一能够确定的，是他已将电影融入了生命，情到深处人孤独，在《阿里郎》的歌声里，除了电影本身之外，一切都显得不再那么重要……
