Marie-Lou Fontaine, director of a nursing home in the Paris suburbs, defies convention by adopting the 'Humanitude' method despite her team’s resistance. Her encounter with Mari Morisaki, a terminally ill Japanese playwright, transforms her life. Together, they turn the facility into a symbol of resistance and humanity against the system’s limits.

Written and directed by Oscar nominee Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, Gift is set in Mizubiki Village in Nagano, a town located on a plateau rich in nature not so far from Tokyo. The number of immigrants is on the rise, with very gradual development. Takumi and his daughter Hana, who have lived there for generations, lead a modest life, following the cycle of nature. One day, a plan is hatched to build a glamping site near Takumi’s house: an entertainment agency, which has fallen into financial difficulties due to the COVID disaster, has obtained a government subsidy and plans to set up a glamping site. However, the discovery that they intend to discharge sewage into the village water source causes unrest in the village, and the aftermath affects Takumi’s life as well.

A Mizubiki Village, close to Tokyo were Takumi and his daughter Hana lived. One day, the village inhabitants become aware of a plan to build a glamping site near Takumi's house, offers a city resident and its affects Takumi's life.

最初期の『何食わぬ顔』から現時点での最新作『親密さ』まで、濱口とのコラボを継続しているミュージシャン岡本英之の依頼により、ライブでの上映のために製作された中篇。怖い映画をという要望に応えて、血も流れず、手や足も千切れないのに、本当に恐ろしい作品となっている。岡本の何食わぬ顔、そして少女が体験する悪夢！

ソラリスは宇宙の果てに浮かぶ海に覆われた惑星であり、赤と青の二つの太陽の周りを公転している。ソラリスの海は、それ自体が一つの生命体であり「思考する海」であると考えられている。多くの研究者がソラリスの海との接触を図るべく地球からソラリスに向かった。
しかし発見以来100年の間、ソラリスの海は沈黙を保ち続けている。細々と研究の続けられるソラリス・ステーションに、若き研究者・高野健二が到着する。
そこで彼が見たものは廃墟のようなステーションと、海に浮かぶ巨大な赤ん坊だった…。

恵一は大学院の先輩・誠に想いを寄せているが、告白して振られる。誠はそれはあくまで性的指向の問題であって、恵一の人柄自体は否定しないと言う。諦めきれない恵一は、飲み会で夜を明かした勢いで再度告白を試みる。東京藝大入学直後「差別」というテーマを与えられて撮った一本。

Hamaguchi wrote and directed this film as a graduation project for the students at ENBU Seminar (film and theater school in Tokyo) when he taught there. It is a three-part film: The first part is a documentary-style production of a play; Then the actual full stage production of the play; and the epilogue. Poetry and written words play the central role in the movie.

元々『ハッピーアワー』クラウドファンディングの特典として企画された短編。現時点で濱口竜介の最新作である。ドキュメンタリー、正面ショット、ダンス…とこれまでの濱口作品のモチーフが頻出する一方で、新境地とも言うべき軽やかさが印象深い。それをもたらしたのは、『PASSION』『永遠に君を愛す』出演の岡部尚との久しぶりのコラボレーション、そして新たな協働者である小川あん、玄理の瞳の輝きだろう。虚実の間を揺れ動く”インタビュー”シーンは必見。

技術的な諸々の難点を除けば（これは大学の映研で撮られた8ミリ映画なのだ）、濱口竜介が既に濱口竜介であることが驚異的だ。的確な演出とショット割り。映画と映画内映画の関係を複雑かつ緻密に構成した脚本。しかもここには、若さと仲間との親密さから来る瑞々しさが溢れている。約10年振りに観られる幻のバージョン。
