Provincial lord of the Arioka Castle, Murashige Araki, rebels against tyrannical despot Oda Nobunaga, and makes a stand at his stronghold castle. He decides to take siege but is subsequently surrounded by Oda's forces, leaving its denizens isolated and in need of allies. With the sensitive support of his wife Chiyoho, Murashige struggles to keep his hot-blooded retainers in check, while also protecting the castle and its people. One day, a young samurai is murdered within the fortress with the mysterious killer unknown. A succession of bizarre incidents follows. The suspects are Murashige's close retainers and the people inside the Arioka Castle's land. Outside, enemy troops lie in wait. Inside, traitors lie to conceal themselves. As suspicion runs rampant, Murashige seeks the help of a prisoner in his dungeon—dangerous master tactician Kanbei Kuroda—to solve the mysteries.

暴力団神崎組の組長・神崎は、娘のアスカが勝手に男と付き合っているのを知って激怒し、相手の素性と二人の交際の進行度の調査を雄次と耕作に依頼した。公園で抱き合うアスカの様子を隠し撮りしたビデオを見てさらに怒り狂った神崎は、相手の男である予備校生の木村を連れてきたら200万出すという。耕作はもちろん、雄次たちに仕事を回している由美子と栄も200万と聞いて心を動かすが、神崎の態度にうんざりしていた雄次は、その仕事を断ってしまう。ある日、雄次は街で神崎組の芹沢たちに追われていた木村とバッタリ顔を会わせ、機転を利かせて彼をかくまった。アスカは恋人というわけではなく、彼女の方から無理矢理誘われ、組長の娘とは知らず手を出してしまったらしい。このままでは叔父の住むオーストラリアに逃亡するしかないという木村の言葉に、雄次と耕作は目を輝かせた。テレビで物価が日本の5分の1と聞いて以来、二人の心はオーストラリアに飛んでいたのだ。結局200万を選んだ雄次と耕作は、木村を神崎に引き渡したのだが、現金を受け取った二人が部屋に戻ると、玄関には血だらけの木村が倒れていた。リンチを受けながらも神崎組から逃げ出した木村は、ほかに行くあてもなく雄次の部屋に舞い戻ってきたのだった。しかたなく雄次は三人でオーストラリアへ行こうと決める。しかし、木村が恋人の陽子も連れて行きたいと言い出し、雄次はやむなく陽子にも声をかけるが、陽子の方は木村のことを単なる知り合いとしか思っていないばかりか、逆に雄次に一目惚れする有様だった。しかも陽子は、アスカの妹だったのである。思いつめた陽子は、雄次と一緒にオーストラリアへ行きたいと雄次の部屋まで押しかけ、さらに木村を追ってアスカまでが現れて、事態はさらに大混乱に。そんな折、雄次が外出している隙に、耕作と木村が神崎組によって連れ去られてしまった。雄次はすぐに居場所をつきとめ二人を救出するが、その裏には神崎のやり方に不満を抱いた芹沢の手引きがあった。雄次たちの渡航の段取りまでつけてくれた芹沢を、雄次は一緒に行こうと誘う。しかし、いよいよ出発という時になって神崎組に居場所をつきとめられてしまい、身を挺して雄次たちをかばった芹沢が撃ち殺される。雄次と耕作は“男のケジメ”をきっちりつけるために、木村たちを船に残し、二人だけで対決を挑んだ。しかし、反対に叩きのめされ傷だらけになった雄次と耕作には、またいつもの日常が待っているのだった。

Etsuko becomes worried about Miyuki's state of mind, and she takes Miyuki to the psychiatric hospital where her husband, Tatsuo, works. There, Miyuki receives a diagnosis that she lacks the concept of "family." Later, Etsuko tells Tatsuo that she is not comfortable with Dr. Jirō Makabe. Tatsuo introduced her to Dr. Makabe earlier at the hospital. Etsuko has a feeling of unease about her husband working with Dr. Makabe. One day, Etsuko hears Dr. Makabe state "I came to Earth to invade."
