Documentary about the twin sister Jutta and Gisela Schmidt. In the late sixties the two women rebelled against middle class society as if they gave vent to a new kind of art. They became active in the underground communist party KPD and showed a heart-felt interest in the colour red, the aesthetics of the revolution. Soon, though, the twins quit their experiments in Germany. They left their husbands and went to Rome, where they met the fabulously wealthy Paul Getty III, and soon things got really out of hand.

The creative process is explored through Andrei Tarkovsky and Andrey Konchalovskiy working on their respective film projects: Strasti po Andreyu (1966) and Pervyy uchitel (1965) and actor Anatoliy Solonitsyn, who plays Rublev in Tarkovsky's film.

Through the rehearsals and the tour of the show based on Uncle Vanya by Anton Chekhov, Vinicio Marchioni takes us to the Italian province destroyed by the earthquake and the places of the Russian writer. The film uses unique materials related to the years Tarkovsky spent in Italy: Florence, where he lived, and where his museum now exists, at a place called Banja Vignoni, where "Nostalgia" was filmed in the house of the Italian screenwriter Tonino Guerra.
The film will include rare unique images: young Tarkovsky on the set, fragments of the documentary "Time of travel", which was filmed in Italy by Andrei Tarkovsky with Tonino Guerra. For the first time viewers will see the location of filming of "Stalker" in Estonia...
