The dance play is based on the legend of the girl who was danced to death. Using the tools of folk dance, classical ballet and modern dance, the three parts tell the tale of the black man's spell that takes the girl away from her lover in a setting of folk tales, 18th century Rococo and the 1960s metropolis. But in the modern world, in the ballroom bustle of the last part, the girl is no longer alone, but with the help of the other young people, she is freed from the magic of the red shoe and manages to stay with her lover.

Corporal Molnár (Imre Sinkovits) decides that war has ended for him and makes his getaway from his corps with all their money hidden in empty grenades. He tries to hide in a castle which is guarded by the derisive groom Albert (Tamás Major). Unfortunately the hideaway is full of other fugitive soldiers so he takes command and risks his and his comrades lives in dangerous adventures - they are acting as an official corps, saving a soviet soldier, fighting with Arrow-cross detachments. Things are going well but in the end they are getting into soviet captivity where they are organizing a partisan commando...
The sentence from this movie "The Russians are in the larder" has become an adage in Hungarian language until Today.

Dery is a grande dame actress of the Sarah Bernhardt school of big-gesture theater. She thinks of retiring from the stage, and reunites briefly with her estranged husband in a newly-built manor in the country.
