A TV Dante, produced by Britain’s Channel Four during the 1980s and aired in Britain in 1990, presents the first eight cantos of the Inferno.
Co-directed by Peter Greenaway and Tom Phillips. Phillips, a composer, artist and critic, is perhaps best known for his interest in the art of the page. His 1983 translation of the Inferno is used for the production. (The rest of the Inferno has been divided among directors Raul Ruiz, Terry Gilliam, Zbig Ribzynski and Nagisa Oshima)
The title of A TV Dante was clearly studied to put in play the high cultural register now evoked by the name ‘Dante’ and the low cultural register evoked by ‘TV.
Review
Cantos 1 - 8, co-directed by Tom Phillips and Peter Greenaway, was shown on television and later released on video in UK. Ruiz’s casting of his native Chile as the inferno visited by Dante and Virgil in Cantos 9 - 14 (uploaded here) was met with criticism and never broadcast or released on VHS in Europe. Ruiz’s series later found a life in Latin America where it was eventually shown on television where this version comes from. The remaining Cantos 15-34 were never made..

God-fearing Noah and his wife Emmy work a farm in a barren landscape with their married sons Shem ,Ham and Japheth and their wives and naïve teen-aged son Kenan. On a visit to the pleasure loving city Kenan falls for the hedonistic life-style of Sabba, daughter of Noah's atheist friend, wealthy trader Paul, and he visits her on a nightly basis. When an angel tells Noah to build an ark because his world will soon be engulfed by a huge flood Noah takes the news seriously but his family do not believe him and when he tries to warn the citizens he is reviled and pelted with rocks. Eventually Emmy shames the boys into helping Noah and the ark is completed though there is no sign of rain. Godly fugitives from the city arrive and, when the flood comes, are welcomed on board with a host of animals and birds but Kenan elects to stay with Sabba and they are drowned along with the other unbelievers. After the flood has abated the angel reappears to show Noah a rainbow, a symbol of hope.

After Faye and her psychotic boyfriend, Vince, successfully rob a mob courier, Faye decides to abscond with the loot. She heads to Reno, where she hires feckless private investigator Jack Andrews to help fake her death. He pulls the scheme off and sets up Faye with a new identity, only to have her skip out on him without paying. Jack follows her to Vegas and learns he's not the only one after her. Vince has discovered that she's still alive.
