“啐啄同时”是我国宋代的一句成语。鸡蛋在孵化时，必须由母鸡和雏鸡在壳外和壳内同时啄啐，才能里应外合的破壳而出。本片用它来表示生命与死亡从相反方向同时对人生的冲击：经历痛苦才能重生。导演金炅默是年轻的韩国新生代导演，16岁即休学一心一意拍电影。2005年他的处女作《无脸情事》获得了温哥华影展新电影单元的龙虎大奖。《啐啄同时》是金炅默第三部剧情长片，导演借用同性恋与残酷青春，实际上探讨的是充满哲学意味的命题：如何逃离封闭的时间空间，寻找到生命的意义？
