影片聚焦70年代历史上一位赫赫有名的特技演员埃维尔·克尼维尔，一生中有433处骨折创下吉尼斯世界纪录。不过这个人物存有争议，因为有人写了本关于他并带有负面描述的书，埃维尔直接用棒球棒攻击了对方，从而导致6个月刑期，断送了自己的职业生涯。

根据韩国同名电影改编的《亲切的金子》，影片由奥斯卡影后查理兹-塞隆出演女主角并担当执行制片人。该片早在2008年就开始酝酿，但是由于种种原因，一直拖到2013才进入筹备阶段，到目前看出片依旧遥遥无期。
