迈克（蒂莫西·赫顿 Timothy Hutton 饰）从各种意义上来说都是一个失败者，在一场意外中，为了救人，迈克不幸命丧车轮，却因为做了好事而得到了升入天堂的机会。在天堂里，迈克邂逅了名为安妮（凯莉·麦吉利斯 Kelly McGillis 饰）的女孩，在安妮的带领和鼓励下，迈克渐渐的开始习惯了这里的生活。
