Celebrating the life and work of the great Stephen Sondheim, Old Friends won the Best Theatre Event at the 2023 WhatsOnStage Awards. It sold out within a couple of hours last year leaving thousands of disappointed fans unable to get tickets. Now by popular demand, audiences will have another chance to see the never to be forgotten and one of the most talked about theatrical events of the year.

Broadway legends Bernadette Peters and Lea Salonga are joined by Christine Allado, Janie Dee, Haydn Gwynne, Damian Humbley, Bradley Jaden, Bonnie Langford, Gavin Lee, Jason Pennycooke, Joanna Riding, Jeremy Secomb, Jac Yarrow, Marley Fenton, and Beatrice Penny-Touré. The company will also include Harry Apps, Bella Brown, Richard Dempsey, and Monique Young, completing a cast that is truly the best of the West End and Broadway.

Devised and Produced by Cameron Mackintosh, Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends will run at the Gielgud Theatre for 16 weeks only from 16 September 2023 – 6 January 2024.

As Wills foils the tramp-catcher aiming to clear Windsor of the homeless in time for the royal wedding Harry and Meghan take Charles to meet her mother Doria in Los Angeles. Unfortunately Harry's stag night antics land him in jail, almost halting the union. Back in London Camilla and Pippa separately plot to sabotage the ceremony whilst Beatrice and her new date Jeremy Corbyn plan to boycott it. With cash-strapped Fergie standing to make a million by commentating for American television it is down to Wills to make sure the wedding goes ahead - though things can still go wrong.

On Christmas eve the royals head for Sandringham , taken out of moth-balls for the occasion and Camilla is not happy when Kate declares that she wants to cook the dinner for the family, despite scary Princess Anne's austerity measures. Nor is Charles pleased to learn that a referendum prefers William as king, rather than his father, with the ghost of George III chipping in to help reach a decision. Pippa is annoyed when Harry deserts her to help singer Ellie Goulding organize a soup kitchen for the homeless but Beatrice and Eugenie are thrilled to see their parents reconciled - until they discover their father's motive. Camilla continues to sabotage Kate's culinary efforts, aided by the presence of the homeless people invited by Harry but it is Kate who saves the day when Charles' misguided Christmas speech almost starts a war with Europe.
