An American wakes in an English hospital, unable to remember anything prior to a recent car accident. With only a magazine photograph as a guide, and an unknown benefactor, he attempts to unravel what increasingly looks like a bizarre murder.

When a stranger enters a quiet, country town and is seduced by a sensuous married woman he unwittingly finds himself at the centre of a storm of sexual guilt and murder.

Janet is a young student at a private school; her nights are troubled by horrible dreams in which she sees her mother, who is in fact locked in an insane asylum, haunting her. Expelled because of her persistent nightmares, Janet is sent home where the nightmares continue.
