An independent film critic is commissioned to write a blockbuster screenplay in which the girlfriend of an influential gangster is to play. Criticising is easier than creating. The critic tries to save his skin with the help of a girl, a proofreader from the editorial office.

After Mick Nich, a 1930's Chicago gangster, sells out his own gang to the police, the Mafia hires the best hitman in town, Johnny Pollack, to follow him to Odessa, USSR. Upon arrival, Pollack loses his memory and goes on various adventures with a group of thick-headed Odessa locals who think he is a harmless butterfly collector.

A weird family named Makarewicz moves into a house recently abandoned by its owner, set in an idyllic but isolated Masurian village. Very soon a number of local residents and a few visitors mysteriously disappear. Nobody suspects that their new neighbors are a perfectly camouflaged vampire family...

A sequel to "Vabank" (1981), introduces the same characters entangled in a duel between a former safecracker and a crooked bank manager. Imprisoned ex-banker Kramer breaks out with the help of recently released accomplice and wants to get even with his nemesis, Kwinto. Kwinto calls up the old gang to respond to this threat. In the end, Kramer seemingly victorious heads to Switzerland by a prearranged ***ht to Zurich. First, however, they have to cross the German border. They bribe the Nazi border guards, board the plane and land in what they think is Switzerland, only to find out that the film-team has outwitted them with sets and actors and the police is waiting for them.
