Two window washers who are mistaken by Nick Craig, a bookie, as the messengers he sent for to pick up $50,000. Now the person he sent them to sent two of his men to get the money back but they found out about it. So they try to mail to Craig but a mix up has the money sent somewhere else and the woman who got it spent it. Now Craig needs the money to pay off one of his clients.

Story takes place at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii just before the attack by the Japanese on December 7, 1941. The main plot deals with the adulterous love affair between Sgt. Warden and Karen Holmes, who's married to Warden's commanding officer Captain Dana Holmes.

Abner Hale, a rigid and humorless New England missionary, marries the beautiful Jerusha Bromley and takes her to the exotic island kingdom of Hawaii, intent on converting the natives. But the clash between the two cultures is too great and instead of understanding there comes tragedy.

很快，德军来到了城堡前，大炮(听歌)摧毁了城堡外还没来得及移走的雕塑，伯爵试图阻止却起不到任何作用。痛苦的伯爵在战火中死去。福尔克纳上校命令士兵本杰明带着泰蕾兹从城堡后面逃走，并要求他确保泰蕾兹的安全。尽管心爱的人可能战死沙场，泰蕾兹不肯离开，但本杰明还是执行了福尔克纳上校的命令强行将她带走。
