The panorama of human affairs encounters the “man with a movie camera”. His playground has no boundaries, his curiosity no limits. Characters, situations and places pitch camp in the life of a humanity that is at once the viewer and the thing viewed. But what are the last days of this humanity? Have they already passed? Are they now or still to come?

In his early days as an actor, Marlon Brando (1924-2004) was a shy young man with theatrical ambitions, like many others; but his charisma and superb acting skills made him truly unique, so that the doors to the starry sky of Hollywood opened for him. However, his peculiar manners, political commitment and complicated love life always overshadowed his artistic success.

James Toback:" The film idea was generated by conversations Alec and I have had over a long period of time and we decided we'd go to Cannes and shoot a record of our quest to find money to make a movie, which in effect is not a movie we're definitely making, but rather one we will make in the future if we raise the money for it here. This film is about that process, documenting the progress and the potential success or failure of the two of us in a picaresque attempt to obtain the financing of a movie we have a general idea about making."

French-English-Japanese interpreter and translator. Specialized in the interpretation of japanese filmmakers since her first work assignment with Akira Kurosawa during the Cannes Film Festival 1980. Catherine Cadou is also the author of the French subtitles for more than 200 Japanese feature movies. In 2005, she directed a self-financed documentary about the life at Kiba, in Tokyo: Kiba Tokyo Micropole.

If you are a Pasolini fan, this wonderful documentary made in 1966 is essential viewing. It was filmed when Pasolini had just finished directing his episode "La Terra Vista dalla Luna" in "Le Streghe/The Witches" and was preparing "Edipo Re" and "Teorema". It was made by Jean-André Fieschi for the superb French TV series "Cinéastes de notre temp". In this intimate portrait of a personally shy man who nevertheless never winced in his courage to speak his mind (and daringly, brilliantly, at that), Pasolini lets us see why he was one of the stalwart artists and intellectuals of the 1960s and 1970s.
