吉尔是著名导演亚历桑德・阿曼巴的编剧搭档，曾执笔过《睁开你的双眼》、《深海长眠》、《城市广场》等作品。他在1999年执导的处女作《邪魔重生》也是由诺列加主演，曾获得戈雅特效提名，之后还在2005年推出过名为《魔鬼》的电视电影，《黑荆棘》是他的第三部长片。
