慕云从小就爱上台湾本土艺术歌仔戏，这份情怀在她高中毕业后变成积极的行动，毅然加入歌仔戏团学戏，参加演出。
由于时代演变，民风不同于以往，电子媒体的娱乐取代传统娱乐，原本纯朴民风的农村百姓，胃口转变喜欢衣服穿少一点，露多一点的脱衣舞表演。
坚持传统艺术的歌仔戏失去原有的观众。每回演出台下只有小猫两三只，又以老人为多，凄凉冷落的场面和无情的时代巨轮，给慕云很大的冲击。加上眼见团员在生活压力下，有一些女团员兼做应召女或为葬礼唱牵亡魂....，使慕云的想法起了很大的改变，更为怀疑自己投入这个夕阳艺术活动究竟有什么意义？
