正當阿瑟王的宮庭裡正籌備著他與皇后古蘭菲爾的婚禮之時，阿瑟王心情忐忑不安。("I Wonder What the King is Doing Tonight")同樣地不知所措的便是古蘭菲爾，("The Simple Joys of Maidenhood")二人偷偷逃了出來小休，卻不知情地遇上了對方。阿瑟王介紹著王庭的輝煌和榮譽，("Camelot")而當二人知道對方是誰之時便發覺被互相吸引，婚禮也就順利進行了。雖然阿瑟王的老師魔法師梅林被湖中女神妮梅伊帶走，("Follow Me")但在他管治之下可以說是繁榮安定，其中更吸引了一大堆勇敢之士來加入圓桌武士之行列，當中便包括了蘭斯諾。("C'est Moi")

在一次五月舉行的慶典中，("The Lusty Month of May")古蘭菲爾被帶去認識一眾武士，並很快便對蘭斯諾產反感。她慫恿武士們跟蘭斯諾決鬥，("Then You May Take Me to the Fair")阿瑟王企圖勸阻妻子不果，這使他大為頭痛。("How to Handle a Woman")但蘭斯諾的英勇迅即擄獲了古蘭菲爾的心，而他亦對之有意思。為了不背叛阿瑟王，他自告奮勇暫離王庭。("Parade")古蘭菲爾自然捨不得，但亦只能目送其遠去("Before I Gaze at You Again")。

第二幕

蘭斯諾兩年後歸來，並發現對古蘭菲爾未能忘情。("If Ever I Would Leave You")然而阿瑟王對二人之事卻仍是懵然不知，畢竟其私生子巫烈特對其王國野心勃勃，實在不可不防。("Seven Deadly Virtues")古蘭菲爾雖然心有所思，卻依然沒有背叛阿瑟王，並幫他管治王國。("What Do the Simple Folk Do?")另外圓桌武士亦漸因和平而手癢癢的，("Fie On Goodness!")巫烈特趁阿瑟王被困在魔法森林裡的時候撞破古蘭菲爾和蘭斯諾的私會("I Loved You Once in Silence")並觸發政變。蘭斯諾在古蘭菲爾被殺之前("Guenevere")把她救了出來，二人逃至法國。

阿瑟王被逼向法國開戰，雙方傷亡慘重，在最後一戰之前他約見蘭斯諾和古蘭菲爾，後者已然成了修女。阿瑟王在此時原諒了二人，並回到自己的營帳之中。有一個年輕的小伙子向阿瑟王說想加入軍隊，阿瑟王即場把他欽點為武士之後便著他回英國，並要他把這一代圓桌武士，以及阿瑟王庭的精神繼續一代接一代地流傳下去。("Camelot - Reprise")
