As the birthday song plays, a baby girl is born inside a women's prison, welcomed by four inmates, each burdened by a painful past. When a rebellious newcomer arrives, clashes give way to friendship. After the baby is diagnosed with an eye disease, the inmates form a prison choir to gift the baby girl a final memory. Drawing from real-life stories, director Gavin Lin's heartfelt drama blends humour, music, and redemption.

The story starts with three women’s derailed lives. From chaos, self-healing, to self-discovery, after experiencing all kinds of unexpected situations, they remain true to themselves along the way, achieving transformation and growth.

The memories on the taste buds, are those of growing up, of life, of past recollection, of families. In a sultry morning, on the top floor of an old apartment building in downtown Taipei, where a private kitchen is about to open, the female owner Li Xin-Yue has gone missing, abandoning the male owner of the private kitchen, her boyfriend Ji Wei-Ran, along with the unorganized storefront. In the old town area of Tainan, the roof of the old family Li mansion gets hit by a gusty wind, blowing away a piece of tile and leaving a hole on the rooftop. The wind follows through the hole, blowing into the Li’s, launching an upcoming family storm. The three sons of the Li who live separately have all returned. As they debate about the repair work, the conflicts hidden among their relationships start to surface.

「千江有水千江月」是敘述台南黃勝璧師兄的故事，本劇跨越半個世紀，遠赴苗栗、安平，以雙機實景拍攝。主要演員包括有：金鐘獎得主阿布、金鐘獎得主太保、金鐘獎得主張復建，以及金曲歌后孫淑媚，而且，久未出現在螢光幕前的倪淑君也來跨刀演出。
故事從五O年代的土角厝開始發展起，勝璧師兄生長在窮苦的農村家庭，為了家計，從小每天凌晨三點就必須下田，而且父親脾氣火爆，在養家的龐大壓力下，帶給家人鬱悶情緒，孩子們經常活在父親打罵的恐懼中。
勝璧從小積極幫家裡賺錢，長大後娶了一位賢能的妻子莊罔受，罔受師姊勤儉持家、事親以孝，夫妻二人胼手胝足，一路攜手邁進。他們擺過麵攤、住過豬寮厝，後來擺地攤賣童裝、賣女裝。隨著夫妻倆長期的勤儉，開始有了積蓄，勝璧決定結束多年的擺攤生意，開工廠投入成衣代工。
七０年代，台灣經濟起飛時期，勝璧成衣事業做得有聲有色。此時，勝璧開始想到要回饋鄉里。他感嘆年幼時的環境無法全心求學，特別關心貧苦家庭子女的教育機會，於是在菁寮國小設立「黃氏清寒教育基金會」，以及於台南縣後壁鄉成立「黃居萬教育獎助學金」，補助家境清寒又認真向學的學生。不只如此，勝璧賑濟貧戶，回饋社會，連賑濟的衣物尺寸，都是經過套量的，可見其愛心是多麼的深厚、寬闊。
一次勝璧應陳文全師兄之邀去花蓮，見到了上人，從此發心投入更多的慈濟工作，夫妻二人也從訪視的過程中，看到這麼多社會角落的病、苦、貧、乏，進而發現自己的幸福。勝璧很疼愛妻子，結婚幾十年，夫妻倆從沒吵過架，連早餐都是由早起的他算好時間煮給妻子吃的，對罔受而言這是難以言喻的幸福滋味啊！
勝璧及罔受悉心照顧父母，讓黃父黃母覺得很窩心。上人曾經勸解地告訴他：父母再不對，作兒子的都要孝順！感恩父母生我、養我，我跟他們有緣，就是不好的緣也要善解。於是，勝璧學會了感恩與寬容，他認為：肩頭擔父母、就算破皮還是要擔；因為他們是我的父母！幾年內，黃母、黃父相繼過世，但是期間勝璧、罔受的孝心，已經烙印在孩子們的心中。
一次突來的昏倒，讓黃勝璧不得不去做身體檢查，卻檢查不出有什麼問題，一向健朗的勝璧，也不清楚自己為什麼。再一次昏倒後，這位菩薩離開人間，卻留下了完美的行誼典範，和我們的記憶並存……
勝璧師兄曾說：「進入慈濟二十年，我沒有退轉。我相信自己這一世和下一世都會是慈濟人，我要緊緊抓住上人的精神和理念，繼續不斷的渡人。」相信勝璧師兄的大愛會長存人間，猶如月照千江水，千里綿延不止息。
