乳黄色的满月升上天空，夜深人静，万籁俱寂。已经穿好睡衣睡帽的唐老鸭，长长地打了一个哈欠，困意十足，他叮嘱自己要早睡早起。他慢悠悠地走到房子中央，放好折叠床准备入睡。但是这个夜晚注定不太平常，先是脑袋磕到了床帮，接着鹅毛枕头又不小心弄破。好不容易一切齐整，闹钟滴答滴答的声音又令唐老鸭不胜其扰，即使将闹钟塞进抽屉，也无法阻挡滴答声钻进耳朵。愤怒的唐老鸭将闹钟扔向墙壁、扔出窗外，谁知一不留神闹钟钻到了肚子里。这下好了，他无法摆脱掉恼人的声音。为了能顺利睡觉，他必须想方设法把闹钟弄出来。
可怕的不眠夜，唐老鸭徒劳奋战……

Donald is manning a listening post and falls asleep; he blows trumpet calls in his sleep and wakes his nephews. For their revenge, they send up a model airplane filled with gingerbread men with parachutes; Donald shoots it down, and cowers in fear when he sees the parachutes (and hears a simulated battle), until one lands on his beak. Donald kicks his nephews out until he mistakes a bee for an airplane, and calls them back to fight this menace.

阳光明媚的一天，唐老鸭（克拉伦斯·纳什 Clarence Nash 配音）正在街角的电话亭和女朋友黛茜（Gloria Blondell 配音）打电话。他愁眉苦脸，一脸焦虑，原来女友不满意他粗俗的举止和言语，命令其限期整改，否则就一刀两断。黛茜姑娘的怒气太大了，以至于挂断电话时连唐老鸭这边的电话亭都炸毁了。一筹莫展的唐老鸭背着手走在大街上，这时见到了一个和自己长得一模一样的鸭子（Leslie Denison 配音）。对方举止优雅，言行绅士。唐老鸭计上心头，请求对方假冒自己讨女朋友欢心。对方起初并不同意，但看到黛茜的相片后不觉心动，于是答应了下来。
起初一切顺利，但躲在一旁的唐老鸭渐渐无法隐藏心底的嫉妒……

黛茜提出最后通牒，如果唐老鸭不能改正自己的坏脾气，那么俩人只有分手。于是唐纳德只得想办法加以改正了……
