<p>I’m someone who supports confederal municipalism. That means I support direct democracy and the dismantling and decentralization of the American government. I believe towns and cities should govern themselves and then coordinate with one another through a voluntary confederation of recallable delegates for shared matters like ecology, transit, and regional planning. <p>"But who would be making medication without a profit incentive???" has to be one of the least thought-out most brainrotten takes out there.</p><p>It's not CEOs developing new medication, it's scientists, researchers, engineers, lab technicians doing the actual work.</p><p>It's not investors mass-producing medication, it's factory workers, operators, everyone across the production and logistical chain making sure those medications are manufactured and delivered.</p><p>Meanwhile CEOs, investors, shareholders do nothing but extract the profits of the workers' labor and get in the way of any innovation that doesn't meet their desired profit incentives.</p><p>Workers could still accomplish the same without CEOs or investors taking a cut. <p>I regularly see posts by older liberals that still lament the loss of what they think was working before Trump. They continue to write as though the economy and government were largely okay and that it was Trump that broke things. That's the problem with the <a href="/tags/democrat/" rel="tag">#Democrat</a> Party and liberals in the US, especially the older demographic that were fairly comfortable in their retirements. For them, it worked well enough that they could ignore the fundamental injustices. Their take seems to be "Yes, but it mostly worked. It was mostly stable. We improve things gradually over time. If it hasn't been working for you, just work harder, wait your turn, trust us, it'll get better for you." For these folks the <a href="/tags/us/" rel="tag">#US</a> as formulated isn't broken and <a href="/tags/capitalism/" rel="tag">#capitalism</a> works. </p><p>That's the problem of the white middle class.
