在1999光良品冠《想见你》专辑后，光良便开始投身在新歌的创作与筹备。其间除了推出《珍重精选辑》与全亚洲的巡回演唱外，还在2000年制作了刘若英、梁静茹、李心洁等专辑，以及与任贤齐、阿牛参与电影《夏日么么茶》的演出。
然而在忙碌中光良并未间断自己个人新专辑的录制工作，反而在这些生活过程中寻找新的音乐元素与情绪灵感，努力生活、继续创作。于是，一年七个月之后，我们看见不一样的光良，一个更明亮开朗的光良，一个音乐上全新的光良。
这张《第一次个人创作专辑》完全由光良亲手制作的专辑中，除了光良一向最为大家喜爱的抒情风格，经过这段时间的沉淀而更显细致淬炼外，在编曲上更加进了吉他、轻摇滚等丰富的音乐元素，像光良与五月天合作的两首歌“你好吗”、“电梯”，就呈现出一个与让人惊艳、和过去完全不同的光良。
专辑中光良除了一贯日剧风格的情歌创作“第一次”、汪佩蓉、梁静茹、玛莎等友情大合唱的“朋友首日封”，以及光良第一首词曲创作“如果你还爱我”外，我们在“单恋”、“我想去个地方”里看到一个拥有崭新个性、动静皆宜的光良。在专辑的十一首歌里光良总共写了九首歌，可以听到光良蓬勃的创作力，以及耳目一新的多样性。
