《依然年轻的废墟》自幼失去双亲的兄妹飒太（竹原ピストル 饰）和帆波（谷村美月 饰）相依为命。飒太被供职的船厂裁员，除夕之夜，兄妹携手登上山顶守望日出；《抱着猫咪的阿婆》70岁的时婆婆（中里あき 饰）和猫咪格雷相守度日，无论政府如何动员，阿婆也不肯离开充满了回忆的简陋小屋；《黑森林》供职天文馆的中年男子比嘉隆三（小林薫 饰）在妻儿面前没有半点尊严，他希望妻子春代（南果步 饰）能从醉酒欢歌的夜店辞职，却始终欲言又止；《开裂的趾甲》继承了父亲的燃气商店，目黑晴夫（加濑亮 饰）一直不得要领，为此心情烦躁，而他的家中也危机重重；《赤足》电车司机萩谷达一郎意外看见本应在东京的儿子阿博。父子间究竟发生过什么，而让他们身处同一城市却不相见。
本片根据佐藤泰志的同名短篇小说集改编，虚构城市海炭市的原型即作者的家乡函馆。

Sisters "Manamo" and "Minamo" live separately in Hiroshima and London since the divorce of their parents. The elder sister Manamo lives in Hiroshima with her mother, she is a high school student, but moonlights at a Japanese cabaret-club. After her mother remarries and moves to Yamaguchi Prefecture, Manamo lives by herself in Hiroshima. One day, her younger sister Minamo returns from London to visit Manamo. It is ten years since they have lived together, and they argue every day.

Asako, a comic book artist in her early forties, is devastated by the death of her precious cat, Saba, which kept her company for over 15 years, as her assistant Naomi watches on with concern. Naomi is a young woman in her early twenties, who has her set of worries about love and future. Then one day, Asako meets a new cat, Gu Gu, which brings new joy and vitality to her life. What is more, she finds potential for love in a man named Seiji. Like Asako, Naomi, too, embarks on a new life plan.

A young man is falsely accused of molesting a high-school girl on a train. He is arrested and charged, and goes through endless court sessions, all the while insisting that he is innocent.
