本作为《怪物猎人》系列Switch正统独占作品，这次是和风主题，封面怪物为怨虎龙。标题的“崛起”意指“无拘无束尽情跃动的动作”，本作新增了「翔虫」的生物，能够飞向猎人指示的方向，并使用特殊的「铁虫丝」将猎人拉近。系列作品中的经典怪物和全新的怪物都会登场，本次还加入了全新的随从「牙猎犬」，能够配合猎人积极地发起连携攻击。猎人还可以骑在牙猎犬的背上进行不消耗猎人耐力的高速移动。

本作是由《鬼泣》系列之父神谷英树制作的全新次世代动作游戏。自Capcom旗下的Clover工作室解散，并由其核心成员组建了新的开发公司自后，神谷英树就已经开始本作的筹备工作。
