Belladonna of Sadness was co-written by Alexandra and British rock front man Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys, The Last Shadow Puppets) and co-produced by James Ford (HAIM, Florence and the Machine) and Alex Turner.
Alexandra first made her mark with the release of her debut single "Shades" in the summer of 2016, which left Noisey "comp4letely hooked" on the 21-year-old singer/songwriter. "It's about knowing you're doing something you're not supposed to be and reveling in it," she explains. In addition to "Shades," Belladonna of Sadness features previously released songs "M.T.M.E," "Mystery Girl," and the official first single "Mirage," which is about being in the grasp of the record industry and society s portrayal of women. Also included on the album is the track "Vanishing Point,", a hauntingly beautiful song that Idolator called "the best showcase yet of her evocative, widescreen sound and scene-setting lyrics."
Alexandra's unique sound and style first caught the attention of several creative forces including T. Bone Burnett, who placed her song "Risk" in the most recent season of HBO's cult series True Detective. Live performances followed in both New York and Los Angeles, leaving audiences clamoring to hear and know more about this beautiful mystery girl. "I stay a bit stoic with my personal emotions," she admits. "I portrayed things I was going through, but I didn't say them out loud. I made the record when I first moved to L.A. I was observing a world I'd only heard about but it was true. I felt like I had to figure out who I was in a year, and I wrote about that struggle. I created a fantasy."

A Hundred Million Suns is the fifth album by alternative rock band Snow Patrol. 今年的确是英伦音乐丰收的一年，我们看到了许多老将的复出，当然也有许多崭露头角的新人，而最轰动的莫过于这对临时组合，之前我已经大幅报道了这次合作，而且也让大家提前欣赏了他们的Ep作品，The Rascals也许对大家来说还相对陌生，我本人非常喜欢，只是现在越来越觉得他们的音乐有浓重的猴子味了，激进复古的朋克口味，突出的吉他Riff无论从演艺技巧上来说甚至都可以说是在模仿，那其实并不是我想要的。不知道Alex给他们灌输了多少理念，这次倒好，乾脆直接把领头的Kane拉过来合作，难道真的有点相见恨晚的感觉？前几天已经听过了专辑中的大部分歌曲，不过知道今天才收齐，按照Alex自己所说的，这会是张偏流行的作品， Bacharach-style pop？不清楚是啥风格，又或是创造他们自己所独特的风格来膜拜那些他们所欣赏的乐队，听来比较夸大，傲慢，甚至被外界评论为愚蠢的想法，但你还是不得不佩服他们的无畏。其实仔细看看Alex所写的歌词，简简单单大多透露出这次合作的愉快和舒心之旅，能找到Kane这种知音似乎比得大奖还要过瘾。而 Alex，Kane的和声真的可以说配合的相当不错，说不上唯美动听，但至少难以释怀，蠢蠢欲动的情感迸发，随着飞驰的鼓声和吉他的拨弄让整个境界得以升华，对我来说，没有辜负自己的好奇心，也没有辜负这次看热闹的人。

In the U.S., Soft Cell, the British duo of singer Marc Almond and instrumentalist David Ball, was a classic one-hit wonder, that hit being the remake of Gloria Jones' "Tainted Love," which dominated dance clubs and eventually peaked in the pop Top Ten with its synth-pop sound and Almond's plaintive vocal in 1981-1982. In the U.K., the group not only had a longer career, but also influenced a raft of similar performers. Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret, originally released in Britain in the fall of 1981, contained both the band's first hit and its follow-up, "Bedsitter," its title referring to what in America would be called a studio apartment. (A third U.K. Top Five hit, "Say Hello Wave Goodbye," emerged from the LP.) At full album length, lyricist Almond's primary preoccupation, only suggested in "Tainted Love," was spelled out; this was a theme album about aberrant sexuality, a tour of a red-light district. The point was well made on "Sex Dwarf," with its oft-repeated chorus "Isn't it nice/Sugar and spice/Luring disco dollies to a life of vice?" Songs like "Seedy Films," "Entertain Me," and "Secret Life" expanded upon the subject. The insistent beats taken at steady dance tempos and the chilling electronic sounds conjured by Ball emphasized Almond's fascination with deviance; it almost seemed as though the album had been designed to be played in topless bars. British listeners saw through Almond's pretense or were amused by him, or both; more puritanical Americans tended to disapprove, which probably limited the group's long-term success stateside. But the music was undeniably influential. The 2002 CD reissue added two lengthy 12" single mixes of "Tainted Love," one of them a medley with the old Supremes hit "Where Did Our Love Go," the other a dub version.
