The Sound Of Suzhou
Suzhou is known for its ancient canals and tranquil gardens, and has a rich musical tradition being the birthplace of both Kun Opera more than two thousand years ago and Pingtan, a traditional folk art combining music and story-telling that dates back to the Song Dynasty.
Today, Suzhou attracts creative types avoiding the hustle and bustle of neighbouring Shanghai, with a burgeoning scene of live music and recording projects. We hope this will be the first of many volumes documenting the diversity of the music scene in Suzhou, and hope independent artists and curators of music from developing music scenes across China and around the world will find inspiration.
引爆安静的苏州
苏州素以源远流长的运河和宁静致远的园林闻名于世，其中更以作为有两千多年历史的昆曲诞生地，以及起源于宋朝的以故事叙述和音乐相结合的评弹而为众人所知。
如今随着各种音乐类型的兴起以及完善的录音设备，苏州正逐步摆脱上海的束缚，吸引越来越多的新兴创意。我们希望这将是第一个把各种多样化的音乐场景相结合的作品，同时也欢迎来自中国和世界各地的独立艺术家以及策展人可以寻找到对艺术创作的灵感。
