简介
威妥玛著《语言自迩集》，在当时是一部权威性的北京话课本。它系统地记录了19世纪中期的北京官话音系。作为课本，语音、汉字、语汇、阅读并重，1500多条注释提供了丰富的语言—社会—文化背景知识。这部百余年前的北京话描写语言学巨著，在中国现代语言学史上影响深远。此次推出的第二版中译本是在2002年首版的基础上修订完成的，增加了约17万字。其中，第一章至第八章主要是从英文注释中捡回了被忽略掉的有用资料，补译了原著的部分英文小注，充实了若干译注、译按；补充修订了《北京话音节总表》（原《北京话字音表》）；增收了《北京话异读字表》，并增添了校注。
