Taxidermisez-moi (2021)

When taxidermied animals come back to life, a woodsman shows up to threaten the innocent forest creatures. The latest from Marie Losier (known for her unforgettable Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jane — Prix du public Temps Ø, 2011 — and exultant Cassandro the Exotico) is the love child of the artist’s fertile imagination and the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature in Paris, which commissioned the work. Once again displaying her talents for creation and collage, the filmmaker invades the sleeping museum with nocturnal sounds and delivers a veritable manifesto for the living by summoning . . . André Malraux! A little gem of enchanted theatre, distilled into pure magic and poetry onscreen.
