A realistic tale of an intellectual couple whose stagnant marriage is put to test. The wife's audacious, sexy friend arrives for an indefinite period. The husband initially detests the bold, seductive and uninvited stranger whose frank observations lead his wife to question their 11-year union. The husband is a taxi driver unmotivated to finish his masters degree in sociology. His marriage has degenerated into a sexless habit with minimal communication. Predictably, the stranger's presence provokes change via conflict. Surprisingly, the husband and wife eventually rediscover their love for one another after brief affairs outside their marriage.

A psychological portrait of Ewa, a young Polish theatre actress searching for her own way in life. She plays a minor role in Jasieński's 'The Ball of Mannequins', a complete opposite of her real personality, while aspires to star as Cordelia in Shakespeare's 'King Lear'. Ewa lives on her own, occasionally visiting a famous old actress to talk about theatre, taking care of a poor neighbor, and fights her sophisticated mother rejecting the truth about her beloved father, who died an alcoholic.

Set in the early years of the century. A story of a country gentleman haunted by the memory of his first wife. His current wife, had enough of his obsession and has taken a lover, who is mysteriously paralyzed. Meanwhile, main character's son gets his first taste of sensual experience with a mute peasant girl.

The protagonist of the film is a 50-year-old businessman, Tomasz Adamczyk, who wants to give up running his winery business and devote himself to his lifelong passion for philosophy. This idea does not appeal to his business partner. On top of all this, Tomasz has an accident and is taken hostage by enthusiasts of the wine he produces.

Set during the German occupation of Poland during WWII. A priest in a small village meets a revolutionary who is on an assignment to kill a supposed Nazi collaborator.
