An aspiring singer unwittingly comes into possession of several tapes for which her engineer husband and his partner, in their electronic eavesdropping business, were murdered, and discovers that she and her daughter are now being stalked by the killers.

1982年9月26日，《Knight Rider》初次登台，它的处女秀是一部2小时长的剧集。1986年的8月，《Knight Rider》开始在NBC播放，前后分四部，每部皆为21集，一共84集，此外还包括两部电视电影：Knight Rider 2000 (1991) 和 Knight Rider 2010 (1994)。我国引进的多为第三部中的故事（尤其是上面推荐的那几集）。而据最近的消息，主演大卫哈塞尔霍夫正在筹拍Super Knight Rider 3000，届时将一同推出电视连续剧和电影，虽然大卫已年过50，他本人仍旧希望能再次出演剧中角色：“我算过了，詹姆斯邦德正是我这个年纪，既然这样，那我当然仍可以做麦克奈特！”除此之外还有另外一种说法，即在新版《霹雳游侠》里他将以“顾问”身份出现，带领两名年轻人伸张正义。大卫还计划同时推出卡通版《霹雳游侠》，让儿童观众能够分享他们父母的童年记忆。
