<i>Cerulean Verge</i> wasn’t the start of Korean artist WENDY’s career—the K-pop soprano debuted alongside IRENE, JOY, and SEULGI as third-generation girl group Red Velvet in 2014—but it was the start of something new. The six-track pop EP was the first major project WENDY released following her solo split from SM Entertainment in April 2025, and the ASND Label album is filled with upbeat songs about harnessing the power of a fresh start.

<i>Cerulean Verge</i>’s central theme is perhaps most explicit on lead single “Sunkiss,” a pop anthem about embracing a new version of oneself, but an optimism is infused throughout the album. On “Hate2,” billed as WENDY’s first self-composed track, the singer beats back the inner voices telling her she’s not good enough. “I know what I really want,” she proclaims in the song’s soaring chorus. “I’m painting as my heart leads me.” On the English-language love song “Chapter You,” WENDY sets out on a different kind of journey—one that feels destined for some kind of success, given the broader faith in the future expressed on the piano ballad “Believe.”

On “EXISTENTIAL CRISIS,” a pop-punk track that sonically links <i>Cerulean Verge</i> with WENDY’s 2024 EP <i>Wish You Hell</i>, the singer has confidence that she can walk her own bold path. It’s one she’s taking listeners on along with her. “Even in the midst of any trials/Know I’m gonna be right there,” she promises on “Fireproof,” a rousing clap-along commitment to her fans.

레드벨벳의 웬디가 가창에 참여한JTBC금토드라마 ‘디데이’ 러브 테마곡 ‘아나요(Let You Know)’ 음원이 공개된다.
‘디데이’ 7화에서 정똘미(정소민 분)가 이해성(김영광 분)을 치료해주는 장면에 처음 삽입돼 시청자들의 귀를 사로잡은 만큼, 음악 팬들의 뜨거운 호응이 예상되는 웬디의 솔로곡 ‘아나요’.
‘아나요’는 나지막이 읊조리듯 노래하는 전반부와 폭발적인 가창력이 절정에 달하는 후반부의 대비가 인상적인 러브 테마곡으로 웬디의 깊은 감성을 느낄 수 있으며, 주인공 정똘미와 이해성이 어려운 상황 속에서 피워내는 사랑을 더욱 애틋하게 만들어 극의 몰입도를 높이고 있다.
특히, 웬디는 레드벨벳 활동은 물론 드라마 ‘미미’ OST ‘슬픔 속에 그댈 지워야만 해’, ‘후아유-학교 2015’ OST ‘Return’ 등 다수의 드라마 OST에도 참여해 뛰어난 가창력과 매력적인 목소리로 SM 차세대 여성 보컬의 파워를 보여주며 많은 사랑을 받고 있어, 이번 솔로곡 역시 더욱 높은 관심이 기대된다.
‘디데이’는 절망적인 재난 상황 속에서 생명과 신념을 위해 활약하는 의료팀과 구조대 그리고 그 안에서 피어나는 인간애와 생명의 소중함을 다룬 드라마로 매주 금, 토요일 오후 8시 30분 JTBC에서 방영된다.
