Patricia (Phyllis Calvert) throws away a painting members of her Italian village consider to be extremely lucky. She goes to great lengths in her attempts to locate it again and bring it back.

A lonely child must stay with her uncaring aunt and uncle after her mother is hospitalized. Her estranged father is a fugitive. For love and companionship, the eleven-year old girl becomes friends with the housemaid. When at long last, she meets her dad, she must vow to never reveal his location to the police.

A young woman's highly ordered and structured life is turned upside-down when she meets a handsome stranger at a party. When well-off aircraft designer Denning finds his daughter's current boyfriend is a nasty character he tries to buy him off, ending up hitting him and causing his death when he falls. Instead of calling the police he dumps the body in a lonely spot on the road to the North, making it look like a hit-and-run accident. Weeks later there is still no report of the body being found, and Denning starts to go to pieces. When he lets his wife into his secret the two start making enquiries, possibly making things worse.

An adaptation of Oscar Millard's novel, 'Uncensored'. This Black and White film runs 83 min / UK:108 min. The film was banned in Sweden because of political prejudice. One should go for the UK version for a full account of this true story of the clandestine newspaper 'La libre Belgique' published in Brussels during the German occupation.
Following the occupation of Belgium in the Second World War, the Nazis set up their own propaganda machine. To counter the Nazi press, a group of Belgian patriots revive 'La Libre Belgique', with Delage, a popular Brussels entertainer, and Julie Lanvin, daughter of a newspaper editor, as principal members of its secret staff. The Germans offer a reward for the capture of the paper's sponsors. Delage's disgruntled cabaret partner, Charles, develops a grudge against him and gives him away. Delage and Julie evade capture, but their colleagues are arrested.
While the Germans announce the end of 'La Libre Belgique' Delage and Julie bring out a new edition in secret and make the Germans a laughing stock, so that they are obliged to release their captives. The group is re-formed and, under Delage's and Julie's leadership, the work goes on.
