In seven episodes of the series about love, honor and family, the fate of a backwater and manor community, whose life was changed by the January Uprising, intertwines. The dying father's order imposes a new duty on young Marek Czertwan - he is to take care of the Poswicie estate, left by his father's missing friend, the insurgent magnate Kazimierz Orwid. How will Marek, forced to take care of the estate in Poswicie, cope with the new situation? Will he succumb to the charm of Irena, the rightful heiress of the manor? The heroes' ideals will be put to a severe test, and their desires will come into conflict with the obligations imposed by the family. The title Dewajtis, an ancient oak, casts a soothing shadow over the estate, which becomes a kind of escape from the hardships of life for the characters and a majestic symbol of intergenerational community.

A Pole who spent time in an internment camp during the war on the Swiss-German border, visits the site many years later and recalls these days. He meets with other Poles confined in the same camp, including several women, in whose he had romantic interests.
