時は未来、すぐれた生物学者ロジャー・ニュートンは時の科学の力をもってしても未だ解明されない人工の生命創造の課題に密かに挑戦し、その完成は間近かった。それを知った陰謀家コルボは、その秘密を盗もうと企んでいた。ニュートンはその難を避けるため、妻のエレーヌ、それに永年の共同研究者である＜生きている脳＞サイモン、ライトとともに月にある隠れ家に逃れた。間もなくニュートン夫妻の間に男の子が生まれ、カーティスと名付けられた。さらに最初の人工人間である＜鋼鉄製ロボット＞の創造に成功し、ひきついで第二の人工生命＜合成アンドロイド＞を創り出したが、その時コルボが現れ、妻のエレーヌと共に暗殺されてしまった。残されたカーティスはサイモンとグラッグ、オットーの三人によって月世界で育てられた。比類なき科学者＜生きている脳＞サイモンはカーティス少年の知育の面を担当した。そして、科学者のあらゆる分野の知識を授け、すべての工学的知識と技術を短時間のうちに身につけさせた。＜ロボット＞グラッグは、その桁外れの力とスタミナの一端を独特の方法で少年に注ぎ込んだ。＜アンドロイド＞オットーは持ち前の精神と肉体の両面にわたる驚くべき敏捷な反応の能力を植え付けた。カーティス・ニュートンが見事な一人前の男に成人したある日、サイモンは彼の両親の死の真相を話して聞かせた。そして今後、科学を不正な目的に利用しようとする悪の手と勇敢に戦ってほしいと懇望した。かくしてカーティスは自らキャプテン・フューチャーと名乗り、宇宙の正義と平和のために斗う事になったのである。
主角是一位叫做铁庄平的太空超人，大家又称他为“铁船长”。平常，铁船长的任务就是驾驶著一艘叫做“慧星号”的太空船，保护他们在月球上的基地，这艘船的武器有“洋子炮”以及“洋子枪”。而太空船上还有一些由铁船长所领导的成员们，他们包括了机器人克拉、化学人小胖，还有田教授，以及一个很喜欢铁船长的女孩，她的名字叫做娟娟。
这部卡通虽然年代已经久远，在它的剧情当中常常会出现许多超科幻的情节，例如铁船长他本身其实就会隐形，戏里面还出现了穿墙人和半兽人，而且在人物角色的对白当中也包含了许多科学名词。

In the Andromeda galaxy there's a planet of a highly developed human civilisation. The gentle Prince Itaka and another kingdom's beautiful Princess Lilia are about to enter a love-marriage and take over the throne, when they discover a strange object on the nightsky. Later it lands on the planet, and an alien, mechanic civilization invades King Itaka's peaceful country making nearly everybody their slave. On a fateful night Queen Lilia gives birth to twins, and to avoid misfortune, the nanny Tarama takes one of the babies away, and entrusts it to the gladiator Balga. They still don't know, that the children were born with strong powers, and hold the key to the fight against the enemy that's searching to destroy every human civilisation on the planet...
